Basic Answers - Dog Fence

Most people have many questions when they start looking at dog fences.  I have included in this post some great general information if you are looking for a dog fence.  There are many dog fences on the market today.  The first question you may have is what type of dog fence do I need.  This decision is typically based on the size of your yard and cost.  There are many types of dog fences that will keep your dog contained.
Physical Dog Fences can provide adequate containment and keep other dogs out of your yard.  Underground Dog Fences (Invisible Fence) provide containment and a great value.  Wireless fences are great for small homes or campers.  Although, sometimes ducting and wiring can effect the consistency of the signal.  Another factor to consider is maintenance.  Physical fences require regular maintenance.  Invisible  Fences do not require regular maintenance.  The last consideration when analyzing dog fences is your property.  Are you trying to protect your view of a lake or woods?  Does your property sit on a hill or river?
Electronic Dog Fences will provide containment and keep your view secured.

  3. Yeah! Invisible fences could be the easier ones to set up. However, bear in mind that it is important to know the process of setting this up so you can maintain the safety of your dog...

  4. If your pet does not turn away, they will be corrected (shocked). Each digital collar is set and customized to your pet depending on their individual need. The correction will not hurt your pet. But, it will surprise them. The concept is to create respect for the fence. You will be amazed how quickly they will learn the system. Our Perfect Start training Program typically takes about 5 days to ensure total containment.

  5. Time will come you will need to repair your pet containment system. Whatever brand it is, the wire break locator of DFNA is your best choice

  6. Most dog trainers do not recommend invisible fences. Not only are they ineffective for many breeds but unless you’re going to put collars on every critter that exists in your neighborhood, an invisible fence does nothing about keeping other dogs, coyotes, and other predators OUT of your yard. Strays and/or feral animals can come in and do whatever damage they wish to your dog and he is pretty much helpless to get away.

A better option is an affordable dog-specific fencing system like Pet Playgrounds which offers REAL climb, dig, and chew protection for any breed.
