Our training program is customized to your pet. The minimum number of training sessions needed to contain your dog/cat is two (2). Typically, we start the training after we install the Invisible Fence. On day 1, we spend 45-60 minutes with your dog/cat. About half of that first session is spent inside the house or in a quiet place. The first part of the training is designed to indoctrinate your pet to the collar, flags and warning sound. The collar will be programmed to a training level so your pet will only feel a tickle instead of a shock. After your pet begins to respond, we then take him or her in to the yard to teach them their new boundaries. Our trainer will pull your pet in and out of the signal field. We will use a lot of positive reinforcement and treats. After day 1, your pet will not be contained. On days 2 through 4, your dog/cat must be on a leash. He/she will continue to learn for the next several days. On days 2 through 4, your pet must continue to get reinforcement from you or your trainer. This typically takes about 15-20 minutes per day. On day 5, the trainer will return to complete the containment training and the distraction training. This training session will last approximately 45-60 minutes. The collar strength will be increased to a level that forces your pet to display an appropriate reaction such as barking, yelping or jumping. 95% of the time, your pet will be completely trained after 5 days. The instructor will inform you that your pet is fully contained. If your pet needs further training, the instructor will notify you.
